Responsible Travel

Frozen Himalayas have always believed that if you do something and there is no benefit to the community then there is no beauty in that work. Therefore we have been constantly teaming with people and using their knowledge and expertise to shape the future of Ladakh.

We have been creating responsible tourism itineraries for people who want to travel and make a difference. Currently our friends and clients are sponsoring under privileged kids to go to school, building houses for the poor, helping struggling people financially - giving them dignity in their day to day existence, teaching skills to children which they will never learn in govt schools and aiding in the distribution of medicines and medical equipment to the remote places and hospitals. Overview

Zanskar is the enchanted kingdom of snow and ice survived by an ancient faith that echoes through the hearts to the hills of all that dwell there. It is one of the most isolated inhabited places of the high Himalayas and has been a fascination for photographers, film makers, scholars, mountaineers and those interested in the survival of humans and their religion living in harsh and beautiful isolation. It is cosied into the brilliant Zanskar range which lies on the north of the great Himalayan range, to the south falling toward the Indus. The eastern part of Zanskar is rugged and full of glaciers. The river which flows from Padum (the capital) is known as Lungnak river, after 25 miles joining the Zanskar river through deep narrow gorges before meeting the Indus just above Nimo village. The view of the confluence from above is truly mesmerising. Zanskar has two main valleys known as Stod valley in the west, and Lungnak valley in the east. Zanskar is comprised of many little villages based on the either side of the Lungnak river.

Once you have crossed the zojila pass and entered the beautiful meadow of sonamarg and then valley of Kashmir, there are two things that occur. You are at first overwhelmed by the abundance of life giving earth and absolute enchanting beauty of your surrounds, secondly you will note the distinct cultural and physical shift that has occurred, until you could almost be mistaken in thinking you have reached Central Asia.
